Julie
studied oboe at the Royal Northern College of Music (graduated in 2000) and
since then has built her career around her natural musicianship and zest for
life! She mainly runs education project for orchestras as well as presenting family concerts but still does a lot of oboe playing and uses her piano skills to accompany choirs. See musician page for more info on Julie's performing talents. Her music education work takes her into a variety of situations and allows her to work with a diverse range of people - aging from 6 - 96 and venues including schools, hospitals, elderly care homes, special needs centres and prisons. Julie is the Education Director for the Bristol Ensemble. Her oboe playing has taken her around the world - Germany, Italy, America and Ghana to name a few countries - and has led her to work in most major venues across the UK as well. Whilst at the RNCM, she won all available prizes for oboe playing and orchestral wind playing. Julie also has an MA in Community Music and is exploring many ways of using Soundbeam in her work. (see news page for further information) Julie plays on a Howarth XL oboe and a Loree Cor Anglais. She couldn't give a monkeys about reed making so buys her reeds from Jordanov! She lives in Bath with her husband and 2 cats... |
